More often performed in a version for string orchestra,
the chamber version of the Young Torless Fantasia is scored
for 3 violins, 2 violas & 1 cello. The music from the
"Fantasia for strings" was originally composed for ancient
instruments for the 1966 film "Der junge Törleß", directed
by Volker Schlondorff. Part of that music, rescored for modern
instruments, was used seven years later for the closing credits
of "The Exorcist".
