Catherine Del Russo is always searching for

new or unfamiliar works for the oboe.
On a recent trip to Prague, she found
a trove of oboe music by contemporary Czech
composers at the famous Talacko music store
( www.talacko.cz ).
Del Russo and Andrea Anderson were chosen to
perform this program at the 2011 International
Double Reed Society Annual Conference which
took place in June in Tempe, Arizona

CATHERINE DEL RUSSO is Principal oboist

of the Santa Monica Symphony, the Downey

Symphony, and the English horn player of

the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. A graduate

of the Eastman School of Music, she teaches

Violinist Ruth Bruegger: Whether performing with Classical music luminaries (Itzhak Perlman, Yehudi Menuhin, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli), pop stars (Madonna, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Green Day) or in recording studios for movie or television soundtracks, Ruth's beautiful, rich tone and her passionate stage presence always stand out. She is currently concertmistress of the San Fernando Valley Symphony and also performs in the Canoga Bowl (a bowling alley, not an outdoor concert venue) with the Symphomaniacs.

Greg Adamson's stellar cello playing has been heard in various orchestras around Southern California: The San Bernardino Symphony (co-principal), and the Mozart Classical Orchestra (principal) to name two. He has racked up many frequent flyer miles touring and performing with such diverse artists as James Galway and James Taylor, Elton John and John Williams. He is a much beloved teacher for 'All the Arts for All the Kids' in Fullerton and sits on their board.

Ross Källing is a pianist and arranger. After years of toiling in the pits (no pun intended) of various musical theatre productions in Southern California, Ross is returning to his first love, chamber music. He is an award winning theatrical musical director, was Musical Director of the prestigious Beverly Hills Playhouse for several years, and founding Director of Music Curriculum for the Academy for New Musical Theatre in North Hollywood.

The Brad Dutz Quartet blends 20th century acoustic classical chamber music with elements of improvisation and jazz. Comprised of Jim Sullivan on clarinet, bass clarinet and contra bass clarinet, Dr. Paul Sherman on oboe and English horn, cellist Chris Votek, and Brad on marimba,vibes and hand percussion. The combination of marimba and cello mixed with bass clarinet and oboe treat the listener to an unusual palate of instruments rarely heard in new music.

A 2010 Beverly Hills Auditions of the Consortium of Southern California Chamber Music Presenters Winner on Viola d’Amore, Los Angeles native ADRIANA ZOPPO performs professionally on violin, viola, baroque violin, baroque viola, and the unusual and rarely heard viola d’amore. She plays with the original instrument ensemble Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, and is the baroque violinist for the period ensemble the Los Angeles Baroque Players. A member of the Carmel Bach Festival Orchestra for several years, she has served on the faculty of the Maud Powell Festival as baroque violin performer and teacher and plays currently for the Corona del Mar Baroque Festival and has been recently appointed director of Ergo Musica, a sub-series of the Glendale Noon Concerts specializing in presenting concerts of period instruments. Ms. Zoppo plays frequently for film and television, solo artist recordings, Broadway musicals, live shows encompassing musical styles from classical to jazz and performs regularly in the string sections of symphonies and numerous other ensembles in the Southern California area. ANTHONY BRAZIER, flautist, was born in Los Angeles where he received his early training at USC’s School of Music, Preparatory Department. He has been heard in numerous chamber music, orchestral and solo performances throughout the So. Calif. area for the last thirty years. Mr. Brazier has also concertized throughout the U.S.A., Mexico, Europe and Taiwan. He is a founding member of the Los Angeles Baroque Players, an early music ensemble that performs on period instruments. He most recently performed J.S. JEFFREY LAVNER is Co-Chair of the Piano Department at the Colburn School for the Performing Arts. More often performed in a version for string orchestra,

the chamber version of the Young Torless Fantasia is scored

for 3 violins, 2 violas & 1 cello. The music from the

"Fantasia for strings" was originally composed for ancient

instruments for the 1966 film "Der junge Törleß", directed

by Volker Schlondorff. Part of that music, rescored for modern

instruments,was used seven years later for the closing credits

of "The Exorcist".

Allen Savedoff is a member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, Opera Pacific, and Southwest Chamber Music. for string trio, harpsichord and audio

Formed in 1994 by jazz violinist Harry Scorzo,
Vio-fonik is a string trio consisting
of two violins, and cello, and features
Scorzo's writing and improvising.
Harry is joined by Jennifer Walton (violin)
and Alan Mautner (cello), both fine classical
instrumentalists and respected educators.

Vio-fonik's repertoire borrows from the
harmonic and contrapuntal textures of the
mid and late 20th century, and also from
mainstream jazz, Afro-Cuban music, and
popular music of the later 20th century.
They have been said to sound like "Stravinsky
on vacation".

Scorzo's playing can be heard in the recordings
of "Bongo Logic" and "The L.A. Salsa Society",
as well as in the motion picture soundtracks to
"Envy","Rushmore", "Welcome to Collinwood"
and "You Kill Me". His playing is featured in
many television programs and commercials,
including AMC's "Mad Men" and HBO's
upcoming series "Enlightened".

Ralph Alberstrom received his B.A. from UCLA where
he studied music theory and composition with Roy Harris
and Henri Lazarof and chamber music with Stanley Plummer.
He received his M.M. degree at USC under the tutelage of
Gwendolyn Koldofsky, Brooks Smith and Malcolm Hamilton (harpsichord).
Currently in demand in the greater Los Angeles area as a teacher and
accompanist, Mr. Alberstrom has collaborated in recital with or in the
masterclasses of Erick Friedman, Sherry Kloss, Aaron Rosand, Pierre
Amoyal, Ruggiero Ricci, Gilbert Reese, Dr. Charles Baker, Lynn Harrell,Paul Stein, Louis Kievman, Martin Chalifour and
Paul Badura-Skoda.
Under the auspices of the Viola Society, he has recorded programs with
Martha Strongin Katz and Paul Coletti.

The Bright Light Chamber Players perform

Brahms Sonata Op. 78 in D Major for violoncello and piano.

Brahms's Violin Sonata No. 1 Op. 78 in G major was

transcribed for cello by Paul Klengel and published after Brahms's

death in 1897. The Sonata is known as "Regenlied" or Rainsong

since the melody from Brahms's Lieder und Gesange, Op. 59/3,

appears as the principal theme of the finale.
